Henk Opperman

Henk Opperman started dancing at the age of six, training at the Elize Cogle Bloem Dance Connection. When he was seventeen, he represented South Africa at the Freestyle World Championships in Blackpool (UK), and in 2008, won Kyknet's National Television program Dans!Dans!Dans! Henk went on to train at the Cape Academy of Performing Arts, and during this period was accepted into the Cape Dance Company where he performed both Nationally and Internationally. In 2011 he debuted with Bovim Ballet in their production of Romeo's Kiss portraying the role of 'Tybalt'. He has since danced the roles of 'Freddie Mercury' in Queen at the Ballet as well as 'Elvis Presley' in Private Presley.


Kristin Wilson


After matriculating from The National School of the Arts with a Distinction in Dance, Kristin continued her training with Ballet Theatre Afrikan and was later a soloist dancer in the Company. More recently, she has spent time in Rome performing in the popular television show Amici, and then went on to dance in Paris. This year Kristin performed the principal role of Aegina in A Spartacus of Africa. She has performed extensively both locally and abroad, and is excited to re-join Bovim Ballet for this season of Private Presley.


Tanya Futter

Tanya has a diploma in movement and dance from The Laban Centre, London. She is a seasoned dancer, having celebrated 20 years as a professional dancer with many memorable moments in North West Province, State Theatre, Johannesburg and Mzanzi Dance Companies. She also toured the world with the hit show, African Footprint. Tanya is a Principal Dancer and Contemporary Teacher for Bovim Ballet.


Faye Dubinski

Faye matriculated from The National School of the Arts with 6 distinctions, majoring in dance. She furthered her dance and performance studies at The Cape Academy of Performing Arts where she majored in Dance, Drama, Vocal studies as well as Choreography and Arts administration.
She has performed locally and internationally as a soloist with the Cape Dance Company, working with many renowned choreographers worldwide.
In 2009 she became a member of Bovim Ballet where she has since performed as a soloist in productions of Tango Nights, SwingTime, Romeo’s Kiss, Queen at the Ballet, and most recently Private Presley.


Devon Marshbank

Born in 1986 into the wonderful world of performance, it seems Devon was destined for the stage. He was inspired by many Michael Jackson music videos and aged 12, won an Honours Award for his Michael Jackson routine in the 1999 Cape Town Autumn Dance Festival.

This was the beginning of a journey which saw Devon winning awards at local competitions, and dancing on the stages of theatres throughout South Africa, in the Seychelles and Dubai. The talents of this versatile performer continue to be in demand, and he is regularly called upon to choreograph for various companies both locally and abroad.


Simoné Botha

Simoné started dancing at the tender age of two and a half under Natalie Swanepoel. In 2008 she was chosen to be part of Cape Town City Ballet’s Apprenticeship Program. She completed her Performance Certificate in Dance at the University of Cape Town with Distinction in 2009.
Thereafter she joined iKapa Dance Theatre as an Intern and later became a Company member. She was delighted to join Bovim Ballet in 2011.
Simoné is proud to be Miss Deaf South Africa 2012, being not only an ambassador for her country, but also educating the hearing about the deaf community and breaking the typical stereotypes.

Earlier this year, she performed the principal role of 'Phrygia' in A Spartacus of Africa.


Sven-Eric Müller

Sven grew up in Namibia. In 2009 he moved to Cape Town to study at the Waterfront Theatre School, graduating with the most outstanding student award in 2012. After joining Bovim Ballet in 2011 he performed roles in Romeo's KissQueen at the Ballet (as the 'Freddie Mercury' understudy) and Private Presley. In 2013 he moved to Australia where he gained much experience working as a freelance artist and dance teacher. Upon his return, Sven re-joined Bovim Ballet for the Joburg Theatre season of Queen at the Ballet. His theatre credits include the Rocky Horror Show, Cabaret and most recently, West Side Story.


Nicola van der Merwe

Nicola started dancing at the age of three and continued her formal training at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg. After matriculating in 2003 with full colours in Dance, she began dancing for the South African Ballet Theatre Company and the Gillian Bonegio Spanish Dance Company. 2005 saw the start of her studies at UCT. After completing a BMus in dance in 2008, she began her professional career with Bovim Ballet and has performed leading roles in SwingTime, Queen at the Ballet and most recently, the Principal role of 'Priscilla Presley' in Private Presley.


Michèle La Trobe

As a young dancer, Michèle completed all R.A.D. ballet, modern I.D.T.A. and Dance Core exams, and was the winner of her Solo Performer’s modern exam. Despite her young age, some of her vast theatre credits to date include West Side Story, Showboat, Queen at the Ballet, Sunset Boulevard, High School Musical, Phantom of the Opera, Hairspray, Jesus Christ Super Star and Private Presley.


Alex Ishchenko  

Alex, originally from the Ukraine, was offered a spot in a professional ballet school at the age of 10 and has been dancing ever since. He became a professional dancer for the Virsky Ballet Company at the tender age of seventeen, touring through America, Japan, Canada, Europe and Mexico.

Since moving to South Africa in 2013, Alex has been involved in numerous productions including Queen at the Ballet, and most recently made his musical theatre debut in West Side Story. When he's not on stage, Alex coaches some of South Africa's top figure skaters.


Buyile Narwele

Buyile is one of the great success stories of Dance For All's Outreach Programmes in Nyanga. Since completing his training at Dance For All in Cape Town, he has performed in numerous productions and has worked and performed with Ikapa Dance Theatre, Cape Town City Ballet, South African Dance Trust and Bovim Ballet to name a few.

In 2011, Buyile joined Ikapa Dance Theatre as an apprentice and was later promoted to Company Dancer. In 2014 he joined Bovim Ballet where he continues to thrive. Buyile loves exploring other forms of movement, genres of dance and arts in general.


Ché Milani

After Ché attained her BMus in Dance through UCT in 2009, she immediately commenced her freelancing career. Having worked with Cape Town City Ballet, Bovim Ballet, Underground Dance Theatre, Eoan Group Dance Theatre, Darkroom Contemporary as well as with various independent choreographers, she moved to the UK in 2013 to further her dance career and teaching skills.

She currently freelances with the touring British production of Inala, teaches both ballet and contemporary on a freelance basis in England and returns periodically to South Africa to work with Bovim Ballet.


Tamryn van Houten

Tamryn began dancing at the age of 3, and completed her dance training with Monique Fourie and Genevieve Madden. She furthered her studies by obtaining a diploma at the Cape Academy of Performing Arts majoring in Dance, Drama and Vocal Studies. 
Her professional credits involve years of performing locally and internationally with The Cape Dance Company as well as Joburg Ballet and most recently, A Spartacus of Africa. She has been a member of Bovim Ballet since 2013.


Manie Irving

While dancing at the UCT Ballet School, Manie won a scholarship to train at the prestigious Urdang Dance Academy in London. After completing his training, he returned to South Africa to dance professionally for The Playhouse Dance Company and the Fantastic Flying Fish Dance Company.

Manie then spent over 10 years with Cape Town City Ballet where he achieved Senior Soloist status. He later toured internationally in various shows, including two years abroad with the musical Cats. Manie has been a member of Bovim Ballet for several years, and has danced in Tango NightsSwingTime at the BalletLet me Entertain YouQueen at the Ballet and most recently, Private Presley.



Gill Upsher

Based in Cape Town, Gill has been dancing since the age of six and graduated from the Waterfront Theatre School with advanced ISTD levels in dance and international teaching qualifications in Ballet and Tap. 

Gill joined Bovim Ballet in 2013 performing in Private PresleyQueen at the Ballet and was privileged to debut Sean's new work New Air in 2014. When not on stage, Gill brings 9 years of teaching experience to dance studios around the City teaching ballet and body conditioning, and is currently completing her Pilates course. She can also be seen in various music videos and TV commercials locally and in Europe, Canada and the United States.


Javan Mattei

At age fifteen, JV joined a group of B-boys which dominated at various Talent Shows. For the remainder of his high school career, he led the Group's choreography and succeeded to win first place every year until he matriculated. JV was then asked to join the school's Group as one of the main choreographers, placing third in the country.

In 2002, JV joined Dance Trax where he taught his own Hip-Hop and B-boy classes for 4 years. In September 2006, JV joined Fusion Entertainment where he performed at many different corporate functions and shows around the Cape for a number of years.

In 2012, he joined Bovim Ballet as the hip hop breaker, and has danced two seasons of Queen at the Ballet and two seaons of Private Presley. 


Franco Lamprecht

After training at Pro Arte Arts Academy, Franco continued his studies in Dance at the Tshwane University Of Technology, receiving not only a National Dance Diploma but also an Advanced Certificate from the Royal Academy Of Dance in 2005. Since then his dance career has taken him from Sun City to Turkey, and all over the Mediterranean. He joined Bovim Ballet in 2014 as a cast member of Queen At The Ballet, and was recently part of the International TV series Dare To Dance (India).


Lwanele Masiza

Twenty two year old Lwanele was born and raised in Port Elizabeth. While studying dance at the Tshwane University of Technology, he performed in many of their productions. Aside from his dance career, he has also choreographed for the Dance Umbrella, and recently portrayed the role of Badu in A Spartacus Of Africa. In his spare time, he enjoys watching movies, listening to music, and taking long, epic walks. Lwanele is excited to be dancing his first season with Bovim Ballet.


Xola Willie

Contemporary Dancer, Musical Theatre artist, Actor and Singer, Xola realized his talent, potential and love for artistic expression at an early age. He started dancing in high school, and completed his Diploma in Musical Theatre in 2011 at The Tshwane University of Technology. That year he formed part of the South African Team at the annual Showdance Competition in Riesa, Germany.
In 2012, Xola returned to Germany for the Showdance Competition, this time bringing home a bronze title in duet and solo dance routines, and two Gold medals with the team. Since graduating, Xola was a cast member of Starlight Express, and through his prolific freelance career, continues to perform both locally and extensively through Europe.


Rachel Abrahams

Rachel started her career with South African Ballet Theatre where she performed in Cinderella, Coppelia and Giselle. This was followed by two years with Break-Thru Dance Company and three years with The Playhouse Dance Company, where she performed in numerous productions. Career highlights include performing for the Olympic Bid, West Side Story, A Spartacus of Africa, and is now excited to be joining Bovim Ballet in her first season of Private Presley.


Craig Arnolds

Craig began dancing at the age of five at the Toynbee Dance School in Port Elizabeth. His professional career began in 2001 with South African Ballet Theatre, where he danced a number of roles during his time there. He has danced as far afield as Russia and Denmark and was a Top 10 Finalist on the television show Dans!Dans!Dans! Having recently returned from dancing in Europe, Craig will be performing with Bovim Ballet for his first time.


Jenna Röll

While attending school, Jenna was a ballet student of Nicolette Loxton's for ten years. From 2007 - 2014 she was a member of Cape Junior Ballet, and won a scholarship to attend the American Academy of Ballet. She appeared in numerous productions while studying, and made her professional debut in A Spartacus of Africa earlier this year. This will be her first season with Bovim Ballet.
